Avengers: Endgame’s Gwyneth Paltrow May Have Spoiled Her Rescue Role Again

Earlier this week, Marvel fans learned that Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. weren't the only actors leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Endgame. Gwyneth Paltrow announced her retirement from her role as Marvel's Pepper Potts after a decade-long journey in the franchise. However, innocent as her news might have appeared, Paltrow's announcement may have actually spoiled her role in the second installment in the Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part movie.

While announcing her exit from the MCU in an interview with Variety, Paltrow explained why she wanted to leave after Endgame, noting that she was feeling "a bit old to be in a suit and all that." Though some might interpret Paltrow's comment as a reference to the regular suits she wears in her many Marvel appearances, others take quote as a possible confirmation that Pepper Potts will be wearing an armored suit in the course of the Infinity War sequel's run.

For the past few months, rumor has been circulating, saying that Iron Man's love interest would become Marvel superhero R.E.S.C.U.E. in an attempt to save Tony Stark's life as he floats aimlessly in space in the Guardians of the Galaxy's ship, the Benitar.

R.E.S.C.U.E. was first introduced in the comic book series, The Invincible Iron Man, a critically acclaimed run by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca.

Could Paltrow really be doing a few RESCUE scenes in Endgame?

Last October a leaked behind the scenes photo did show Paltrow taking a selfie while she was dressed in her own armored costume, so it does sound likely.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
