Will Avengers: Endgame Be Robert Downey Jr's Final MCU Movie?

The end is almost here and it looks like Robert Downey Jr. is finally walking away from the Iron Man suit. A new report reveals that Avengers: Endgame will be Downey's final outing as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We already know that Downey's contract with Marvel Studios will expire with Endgame. However, fans have still been hoping that the Avengers: Infinity War actor will still have cameos in the future MCU films. However, it might truly be the end for Iron Man. According to We Got This Covered, a source has confirmed that Downey will not return after the fourth Avengers film.

It's still unclear how Tony's exit will be dealt with in Endgame. One theory suggests that Iron Man will sacrifice himself so that the Avengers could gain access to the Soul Stone while others are hoping that Tony will simply retire and let the younger generation take over. This way, he and Pepper Potts can finally do what he thought they would do: buy a farm as Clint Barton did with his family.

But could this truly be the end for Tony? Some speculate that Downey could still be convinced to turn in a cameo in the next Spider-Man movies. For now, we will have to wait until we get more details.

The synopsis for Endgame reads as follows:

"Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe lies in shambles and the remaining Avengers and their allies must reassemble to repair the damage caused by Thanos and bring harmony back to the universe."

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
