Avengers: Endgame Theory Suggests That Thanos’ Infinity Stones Would Ultimately Create Fox’s Mutants

Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the studio's various film and television assets is finally coming to a close this week. There's a lot of anticipation over the merger between the two companies, mainly because the deal would allow the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Deadpool, and all of Fox's other mutants to make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, as the merger's completion fast approaches, an intriguing new fan theory suggests a surprisingly plausible method of introducing the mutants into the Marvel film franchise.

According to a new fan theory on Reddit, the possible destruction of the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Endgame would be the perfect explanation of the creation of the mutant gene, allowing the X-Men and all of Fox's other mutants to arrive in the MCU.

Supposing that Captain America (Chris Evans) and the rest of the Avengers manage to steal the six Infinity Stones from the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin), it would make perfect sense for the team to find a way to destroy the gems. Of course, knowing how powerful these stones are, the destruction of the gems would send shockwaves throughout the universe that somehow create the mutant gene.

Though the fan who suggested this theory didn't share that much evidence to help support his claim, the concept certainly sounds like an organic method of introducing the mutants into the MCU. Fans have long since been wondering how Marvel would shoehorn the mutants into the franchise – and this theory seems like the smoothest way of going about it.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
