Avengers: Endgame Script Reveals Marvel’s Extraordinary Security Measures

Marvel fans have always known that Marvel Studios had ridiculous security measures in place to keep major spoilers from making their way to the public before film releases.

Now, it looks like we're getting even more details about just how careful Marvel is when it develops its movies.

Emma Fuhrmann (teenage Cassie Lang) decided to open up about how secretive Marvel can be during a rewatch of Avengers: Endgame. Taking to Twitter to share a few comments during an Endgame watch party, the young actress revealed parts of her script for the film where entire portions of the document were redacted. Fuhrmann had no idea what the plot of the movie was because most of the script had been blocked out except for her lines.

"I literally showed up on set with no idea what the plotline was. Everything was redacted except my scene! @ComicBook," the actress wrote in her tweet. "Here's a piece of my script so you can see what I mean."

Blocked out scripts aren't the only measures that Marvel had in place. Joe and Anthony Russo would film alternate scenes to keep leakers off their trail. The directors shot five different endings for Endgame. Notorious leakers like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo wouldn't even be given scripts, only lines, and directions.

While all of these might seem a bit exaggerated, we understand why Marvel would take such heavy precautionary measures. Endgame was supposed to be one of the biggest films of the Marvel franchise – not only would it mark the end of the Russo's two-part Avengers movie, it would also culminate the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It makes sense that Marvel would be extra careful.

Marvel's next release, Black Widow, is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
