Avengers Endgame: RDJ Roasts Scarlett Johansson About Black Widow's Character Arc

Robert Downey Jr. has always been kind of a prankster, and he's known to poke fun on and offscreen. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, RDJ ends up roasting Scarlett Johansson on Black Widow's character arc.

Basically, RDJ is doing a screening of Avengers: Endgame in his home where he'll have the movie on a loop. When Scarlett Johansson says that it might take too long given the film's 3-hour runtime, RDJ replies, "We can fast forward through the dumb stuff," and when Johansson asks what RDJ means by ‘dumb stuff,' he jokes, "I don't know, your character arc?"

While some people are already thinking this was outrageous of Downey to make fun of Johansson, I'm thinking that's just him being playful. If anything, it just showcases how close the two have gotten that RDJ can just poke fun at Johansson like that.

You can also take it as a kind of statement on how Black Widow never gets enough attention, despite being one of the oldest vets of the MCU. The jokes don't have to last that long anymore though since Widow is getting her solo film which could be coming out next year.

Despite Downey's joke, the trailers still tease a very emotional arc for Widow. We know that she has close ties with Clint Barton, and it looks like the two will try to piece things back together after Barton supposedly loses his family.

That's just my guess anyway.
