Avengers: Endgame Fan Theory Suggests Carol Danvers Was Sent Back In Time By Thanos’ Snappening

Marvel might have been pretty generous sharing new details about Avengers: Endgame, but the studio's been pretty quiet about Captain Marvel's (Brie Larson) role in the second installment in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie.

Right now, Marvel's putting the spotlight on the original Avengers members like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). We don't have any clue what the Russos have planned for Carol Danvers in the movie yet, but fans have been trying to analyze the Captain Marvel movie and see what kind of role she might play in Endgame.

One of the theories that's made its way online suggests that Carol's part in Endgame might have something to do with her memories – memories that fans suggest to come from the future instead of the past.

"Carol's memories are supposed to be from the future, not the past," Munn writes, "Marvel is marketing the film as a simple origin film with her memories appearing to appear from the past, but Carol and her friend from the recent trailer, the other pilot, were actually victims of the snap, but instead of dusting, Carol and Talon (Ben Mendelsohn's Skrull character) are actually sent back to the '90s, but Carol doesn't remember. Fury, Coulson, and her try to figure this all out and her past, and it's revealed by Talon that Carol was sent back in time through the snap so she's not remembering the 70s-80s she's remembering the 90's all the way until she got dusted."

According to the theory, Thanos' snappening might have affected Carol as well. Only that it isn't a way that Marvel fans might expect. Instead of fading into dust, Captain Marvel gets sent back in time along with Talos. For those who aren't familiar with the character Talos tries to cause the Kree-Skrulll war and the semi-Secret Invasion to obtain the Tesseract right before Thanos does to prevent the snap.

It's a pretty complicated theory, one that seems very unlikely to happen in Avengers: Endgame. Still, while it seems unlikely that this theory will ever take place in the film, it's fun reading all the fun little twists that fans have written in their speculation for the upcoming Avengers movie.

Avengers: Endgame is scheduled to premiere on April 26, 2019.
