Avengers: Endgame Earning Power Weakens As It Inches In Pursuit Of Avatar

Avengers: Endgame is still in the middle of its theatrical release and it looks like the film is inching closer and closer to Avatar's worldwide box office record.

Now that Joe and Anthony Russo's latest Marvel movie has reached its 18th day in cinemas, Endgame has finally moved a bit closer to $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office, allowing the film to reach another massive milestone during its release.

According to Box Office Mojo, the second installment in the Russo's two-part Avengers movie has finally made $2.494 billion worldwide, making the film the second-highest grossing film to hit cinemas in the history of Hollywood.

While fans expect the film to surpass the unadjusted all-time box office earnings of Avatar ($2.79 billion) once Endgame completes its run, analyst find the idea of the film besting Avatar a little less likely each day. Right now Endgame is at a surprising cool-off with its lowest-earning day coming at under $5 million at the domestic box office. That's a 56 percent drop from the $10.7 million that the film made at the North American box office this Monday.

Of course, Endgame still has a lot of time to move up, so it's still possible that the film might surpass Avatar. Of course, the film will have to contend with other major box office earners later this month like Legendary Picture's Detective Pikachu, as well as Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
