We already know that Clint Barton was out of action prior to the events in Avengers: Endgame because he was trying to live a peaceful life with his family. However, it looks like Hawkeye was supposed to have an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. In fact, he even dons a new suit before becoming Ronin, as revealed in previously unseen concept art.
The concept art was shared by Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park on his official Instagram account. Check it out below.
"Hawkeye! This is a concept design I did of Clint pre his Ronin look," Park wrote before adding the hashtags #Hawkeye, #Avengers, #AvengersInfinityWar, #AvengersEndgame, #conceptart, #costumedesign, #characterdesign, #illustration, #visualdevelopment, #marvel, and #marvelstudios. He also tagged Jeremy Renner's Instagram account in the post.
This is interesting to see considering that Clint wasn't even supposed to be Hawkeye again in Endgame. It had been revealed in Avengers: Infinity War that both Clint and Scott Lang were hiding out with their families and Clint would only later emerge as Ronin in Endgame. Still, it's great to see that Marvel Studios considered bringing Hawkeye back into the action during the early stages of the production.
If you've been missing Clint, you can rest assured that we'll get to see him again soon. Renner is set to return in the Hawkeye series that will air on Disney+.
The Hawkeye series has not yet been given an official production start date. Nevertheless, the show is expected to premiere on Disney+ by late 2021.
