Avengers: Endgame has officially broken Avengers: Infinity War's record on Fandango. The second chapter in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie has become the site's top-selling pre-sale title in its first twenty-four hours.
According to Fandango, it didn't take more than six hours since Endgame's tickets to become available for the move to make leaps and bounds on its list. During its first six hours on the site, Endgame managed to rake in more pre-sale tickets during its first day of sales than any other movie listed on Fandango. This includes Lucasfilm's mega-hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).
"Avengers: Endgame sales have exceeded all expectations and surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the previous record-holder, to become Fandango's top-selling title in its first 24 hours of sales, and it accomplished that feat in only six hours," Erik Davis, Fandango's managing editor shared in a statement (via Newsarama), "We've never seen anything like this – it's truly a groundbreaking accomplishment – as fans simply cannot wait to see how this epic saga comes to a close."
This shouldn't come as a surprise to fans. There's been a lot of hype and excitement surrounding Endgame. Not only will the film serve as the final chapter to the Russo Brother's two-part Avengers movie, but it will also serve as the culmination to the last ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans are also eager to know which characters will survive the battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin). It isn't going to be easy undoing the Mad Titan's Snappening, and the Russos have long since hinted at fatalities in the film. Will death come to Captain America (Chris Evans)? To Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr)?
Let's wait and see.
Avengers: Endgame premieres on April 26.
