Avengers Endgame: Iron Man’s New Look is a Reference to This Classic Comic Outfit

The Marvel films have references several Iron Man suits from the comics from his Extremis armor to his look from the Ultimate comics, but now with Avengers: Endgame, we're getting a classic look that jumps straight out from the golden age of Marvel.

While the official film marketing has been a tad secretive with Iron Man's new look, Hot Toys gives us our first gander at Mark 85. Check it out:

Before it was a thing in the comics to make Iron Man look like he had a functional mechanical suit, he basically just looked like he wore some pieces of armor around some yellow spandex. Though it may seem silly now, it's considered to be one of the most iconic looks for the character, and it's amazing how they're able to make bring it to the big screen this time around.

While the marketing does tease that Tony Stark is somewhere out in space dying, the trailers have already confirmed that he does make it back. We don't know exactly how, but I suspect it will be one of the first hurdles that the movie will overcome. My guess is that this Iron Man suit will be developed for their last stand against Thanos in the film.

Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers -- Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner -- must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos -- the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.
