Avengers BTS Video Reveals The Truth About The Shawarma Post-Credit Scene

There are only a few moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that could match the awesome sequence where the exhausted heroes try some shawarma in the Avengers post-credit scene. Interestingly, it has been revealed that the iconic sequence was filmed only a few days before the film premiered in 2012.

A new video offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the post-credit sequence came to be. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reveals that the idea was conceived after the film had wrapped. Although the actors were already away and wouldn't be available to film the sequence, Feige still wanted to add the scene to the movie. It is then revealed that the stars would be reunited for the premiere so it was decided that the scene would be shot then.

Robert Downey Jr. even admitted during a press junket that they are still filming one more scene for the MCU flick. However, nobody guessed that it would be the awesome post-credit sequence.

Some fans even noticed that Chris Evans may have worn prosthetics for the shawarma scene. There are speculations that the Captain America: Civil War star was still working on his movie Snowpiercer during the time and wasn't allowed to shave his beard yet. This should explain why Steve Rogers wasn't eating and was simply covering his jaw throughout the sequence.

It may have been an unusual scene to work on but it was something that Tony Stark truly wanted. In Avengers, Tony kept insisting on trying shawarma although he didn't know what it was. It's great to see that he was able to convince his companions to visit the Shawarma Palace.

The heroes will return in Avengers 4, which hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
