Avengers 4 Is Going To Have An Unbelievably Lengthy Runtime

Running at 149 minutes on the big screen, Avengers: Infinity War became the longest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. Now, word has it that the film's sequel, Avengers 4, just might be a whole lot longer.

There hasn't been that much official information about Avengers 4, but in a new interview with Collider (via Express), Infinity War director Joe Russo decided to let out the possible runtime for the upcoming comic book movie.

"I'll say it could easily be a three-hour film," the filmmaker told the publication.

However, the Russo brother also indicates that fans shouldn't feel overwhelmed just yet. While the film could go on for more than 180 minutes, Joe also believes that he and his brother would probably try to shorten the length of the Infinity War sequel.

"But I think that, you know, we're very hard on the material. We like it to play at a certain pace. Uh…I…you know, I'm sure that we'll squeeze it," the director explained. "I can't imagine...We have a whole year of work left on that movie. I do think it will be longer than Avengers 3, but it's clearly impossible to say."

Yes, the Russos are going to have a long while on the cutting room floor, but a three-hour runtime isn't entirely impossible. Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and all the remaining Avengers are going to undo Thanos' finger-snapping massacre, and it won't be easy.

Besides, three hours isn't unusual. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King finished at 201 cinemas when it premiered back in 2003. 180 minutes for Avengers 4 doesn't seem much of a stretch.

Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
