If there's anything good to look forward to from Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox and its various film and television assets, it's the potential return of the studio's mutant film properties. Fans have been itching to see the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all the other different mutants make their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hoping that Marvel Studios would help provide better films for these characters.
While the merger between Disney and Fox will definitely take some time, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did previously say that the studio would eventually try to take on the mutant franchises. Now, speaking in an interview with the USA Today, Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo tries to give a little update regarding the X-Men's arrival, saying that it could take time for Fox's properties to be integrated into the MCU.
"I don't know. I think there could be a little bit of time," Russo said.
Of course, Marvel would want to ease the X-Men into the MCU. Rushing things could ruin Fox's various mutant franchises.
"I know with the integration of Fox now and all the Fox characters..." Russo explained. "I haven't talked directly to [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige] about it, so I don't know what his plans are, but my guess would be there will be a little bit of time to integrate some of the other characters and take their time doing that."
While it might sound a bit disappointing to the fanbase, we can see why Marvel would want to take some time integrating the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all the other mutants into the MCU. The studio has to think of how to fit everyone into a timeline that wouldn't ruin MCU's cannon – a tricky thing considering the solid ten-year history of the franchise.
Fans will just have to be patient and trust that Marvel is working on it.
