Avatar: The Last Airbender Showrunner Teases New Characters in Netflix Series

We already know that most of the main players will be showing up in the live-action series adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, it looks like the Netflix show will also be introducing a few new faces who could either help Aang and his friends or work against them. Showrunner Albert Kim has just teased new characters joining the highly anticipated series.

Earlier in November, it was confirmed that Avatar: The Last Airbender has already started filming. This was quickly followed by the announcement of new cast members who will be joining the live-action adaptation of the beloved animated show. But who else is showing up in the series? Executive producer Albert Kim says there are some new characters to meet in the series. Take a look at his latest tweet below.

"On set for the start of Week 3. Lots of big scenes--and new characters--coming up," Kim wrote. He added the hashtag #AvatarTheLastAirbender and tagged Netflix Geeked in his post.

It's an intriguing tease considering that fans are expecting the Netflix show to stay true to the source material. However, it shouldn't be a huge surprise that there will be some changes made in the adaptation. For now, it isn't clear if these new characters will play a major role in the new series but we're hoping that the original characters will not be altered in any way.

Avatar: The Last Airbender will star Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio Tarbell, Ian Ousley and Dallas Liu as Aang, Katara, Sokka and Zuko, respectively. They will be joined by Daniel Dae Kim who was cast as Zuko's father the Fire Lord Ozai. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee will play Uncle Iroh while Lim Kay Siu is Monk Gyatso, and Ken Leung will portray Admiral Zhao.

The live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is still in production and has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
