Avatar Legends Smashed Funding Goals Putting the Game Developer in an Awkward Situation

The Kickstarter campaign for Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game created by Magpie Games has hit a very important milestone. The team has raised over $6 million which is triple the record for tabletop RPGs on Kickstarter.

A tabletop RPG based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra has become so successful that its creator, Magpie Games, ran out of stretch goals for its Kickstarter campaign. The backers of Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game broke the company's campaign funding target of $5 million.

This success has left Magpie with a fortunate yet awkward position of running out of stretch goals to give its backers. The company is trying to further create funding milestones for the game and also update the fans in this process.

There's still time for people to back the project. As the Kickstarter campaign reached $6 million, the stretch goal was opened allowing people to assist characters and manage campaigns. If the next milestone is unlocked, new things to unlock. Once the $7 million is achieved, there will be five adventure booklets that will be upgraded to hardcovers. It will also include content from Wan Shi Tong which appears over the Spirit Library.

IGN reported that the RPG game gained $1 million on its first day. Avatar Legends has become one of the most successful tabletop RPG campaigns on Kickstarter. In just a week since launching itself on the platform, the RPG has already surpassed the funding record which was set by Matt Colville's Strongholds and Followers. It was an unofficial Dungeons and Dragons crowdfunded campaign, which previously raised $2.1 million in just 30 days last 2018.

Avatar Legends is set to be released next year.
