There is little doubt that people are still in shock after everything that happened in the latest episode of Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2. One major shocker in Episode 78 was Porco Galliard's fate as he continued to face off against Eren Yeager. Although Porco was unable to stop Eren from reaching Zeke Yeager this time, he still proved that he could save at least one young comrade. Porco's shocking decision led to the arrival of a new Jaw Titan!
In Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 3, Porco worked with Reiner Braun to stop Eren from reaching Zeke. Unfortunately, the Jaw Titan found himself at Eren's mercy as the Attack Titan bashes his head in.
Porco is severely injured and seemingly gives up as Zeke decides to summon the Titans despite Colt Grice's plea to wait until his younger brother Falco (who ingested Zeke's spinal fluid) was out of range. Zeke's scream turns the boy into a Titan who attacks Reiner, biting the Armored Titan's nape. Although Reiner is resigned to the idea of passing his Titan to Falco, Porco suddenly emerges and distracts the boy.
At this point, Porco is aware that it is over for him but decides he will not let his death go to waste. By allowing Falco to eat him, he effectively passes the Jaw Titan to the younger Grice.
It was a shocking moment (especially for Reiner) but one that also meant Falco was somehow saved. By inheriting the Jaw Titan, he can return to his human form and choose to fight for his comrades.
But will Falco officially become the new Jaw Titan in the next episode of Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2? Episode 79 has other things to focus on so it won't happen in next week's episode of The Final Season.
Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20 is titled Memories of the Future ("Mirai no Kioku") and takes its name after Chapter 121 in the manga. Episode 79 will air on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 12:05 AM JST.
