Atsumi Tanezaki has gotten a lot of attention recently for her major Fall 23 anime roles. Thanks to this, Tanezaki is well on her way to becoming one of the top voice actresses in the industry.
Tanezaki has been active in voice acting for years now, but 2023 is a banner year for her it seems as she’s gotten role after role. Best of all, while some VAs have a signature voice, Tanezaki might be one of the most versatile.
Spy x Family Shows Off Atsumi Tanezaki’s Range
Beginning her career in 2012, Atsumi Tanezaki has built up quite a resume.
Some of her most popular roles in past years include Lisa Mishima in Terror in Resonance, Juno in Beastars, and Rio Futaba in Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.
She has gotten lots of voice acting roles since she started her VA career, but it’s fair to say that her role as Anya Forger in Spy x Family helped boost her popularity and renown.
Tanezaki’s previous roles have all been quite different from each other, but her voice as Anya takes things a step further.
In the anime, Tanezaki pulls off Anya’s voice incredibly well as she sounds convincing as a kid, all while conveying the different facets of Anya’s personality. These include her sweet side, as well as her devious traits.
This season, Tanezaki returns as Anya in Spy x Family Season 2. She’ll also reprise her role in the upcoming Code: White movie.
If that’s not challenging enough, Tanezaki also has three other big roles this season.

Tanezaki Is Also Part of More Fall 23 Anime Hits
Anya is not her only main role this season. Atsumi Tanezaki is also the voice of Frieren in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
Frieren’s voice is pretty much the opposite of Anya’s, so many fans were shocked to find out that they share the same VA.
What’s more, Tanezaki voices Gyokuyou in The Apothecary Diaries. This is yet another role with a completely different voice from her two other roles.
Finally, Tanezaki voices Chise Hatori in The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 and Suzuki in Under Ninja, two ongoing Fall 23 anime.
The fact that she’s able to voice all these unique characters in just one season is a testament to her skills.
Because of this, it won’t be surprising if Tanezaki becomes the most in-demand anime VA in the coming years.
