Astronaut Celebrates Towel Day on the International Space Station


In addition to Geek Pride Day and Memorial Day, it's also Towel Day, so everybody is getting into the spirit of things, including astronauts aboard the International Space Station. 

The European Space Agency (ESA) released a video of astronaut Samantha Cristoferrti reading from Douglas Adams' comedy science fiction novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and explains the importance of a towel acording to the book.  

Towel Day was first celebrated two weeks after The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy author Douglas Adams' death on May 25, 2001 by fans honouing the popular book's assertion that "a towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have."
