The Arrowverse franchise on The CW network is about to end with the conclusion of The Flash tonight and the cancellation of other shows and spinoff projects that are in development. The fate of Superman & Lois also remains unknown at the moment despite the show's success.

One of the projects that were in the works is the Justice U spinoff which would have brought back David Ramsey's John Diggle as the lead this time around. Unfortunately, the network passed and its future is now in Warner Bros. Television's hands.

In a recent interview with The Cosmic Circus, Ramsey shared his reaction to the news regarding his spinoff project's cancellation.

While it was unfortunate for him to hear that the project is no longer in the works at the network, he is still hopeful that his character will still be explored in Superman & Lois.

"Yeah, unfortunately, you’re right. CW decided to pass on all their shows in development. Justice U was one of them," he said.

"Would it have been great? Of course, I think Diggle has a lot of story left, Lantern ring or not. But again, there is Superman & Lois, which again CW hasn’t made a decision on. A version of John Diggle exists within that mythos. We’ll see what happens there."

When asked about which character would have appeared in the series, the actor declined to reveal as the project is still on the backburner of Warner Bros. Television and there is a possibility that it will move forward in other networks.

He said, "There were a few but I’m still not at liberty to talk about that. And the reason why is because it belongs to Warner Brothers."

"Even though it was Warner Brothers produced for CW, it’s still a Warner Brothers show, and I’m not quite sure what they’re going to do with that. I know what CW decided to do, but I don’t know what Warner Brothers is gonna do."

What is the Future of Justice U?

It is hard to tell right now whether Justice U could continue in other networks considering that the DC franchise itself is also undergoing a lot of changes under the supervision of DC Studios chairmen James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Despite the uncertainty, Ramsey mentioned in the interview that he is still excited about Gunn's plan for the DCU franchise even though he is not likely to be part of it.

"So I’m kind of excited to see what [James] Gunn and team will do with Green Lantern, and Superman, and Flash. I’m excited about all that. Will I be a part of it? In its current iteration, probably not," he said.

"But who knows what happens down the line? And again, man, I’m a fan of the genre. So there’s some disappointment, but at the same time, I’m excited to see what happens next."

It is certainly disappointing for Arrowverse fans that the show is no longer happening as they would have loved to see John Diggle get his own series.

Since the project has not been officially shelved, there's still some hope that it will happen even if it's no longer in the franchise's usual home.
