Armie Hammer Rumored To Be In Final Talks For Batman Role

Earlier this month word came out that Ben Affleck was officially hanging up his cape as the DC Extended Universe's Dark Knight, leaving the franchise as well as Matt Reeve's The Batman movie. While fans have been busy tossing names into the ring, there have been rumors running up and down the mill saying that Man from U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer is the top contender for the role. Now, a new report says the actor is in final talks to take the lead role in The Batman.

According to Revenge of the Fans, sources say that Hammer is currently in the final stages of negotiation to become the Dark Knight in Reeve's The Batman.

Of course, as exciting as it might sound, fans ought to be reminded that this doesn't necessarily mean that he has the role yet, though it sounds like he's pretty close to it. The publication expects Warner Brothers to announce Hammer as the new Batman soon.

If Hammer really does get cast as DC's Dark Knight, then it won't be Hammer's first ride into the comic book movie industry. The Call Me By Your Name and On The Basis Of Sex star was first cast as Batman in George Miller's Justice League: Mortal back in 2007, a project that never really came to fruition.

Hammer would be a good choice to play a younger Batman. The actor has the charm to play both Bruce Wayne and Batman in the DCEU. Let's just wait for WB's official announcement.

The Batman is slated for release June 25, 2021.
