One of the fan-favorite characters in the new spy comedy movie Argylle is Alfie, the ferocious Scottish Fold cat owned by Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) and somehow had a pivotal part in the action-packed adventure.
The cat immediately became a scene-stealer for the audience way before the film was released as he was prominently featured in the trailers of the film and one of the centerpieces of their marketing campaign.
Just like any prominent animal character that gets featured in a movie, some people are wondering whether Alfie survived the events of Argylle or did the cat unfortunately die.

Who Plays Alfie the Cat in Argylle?
Alfie the Cat is played by Chip, Argylle director Matthew Vaughn's family cat. He was tapped to play the movie's scene-stealing character after they fired the professional cat who was initially hired for the role.
"I cast him because I fired the first cat. That was an acting cat that behaved badly. It was f*cking expensive and useless. I'm not mad about cats, to be clear. I'm a dog person. But my girls have cats," he explained during a press conference at New York Comic Con (via Popverse).
Vaughn also revealed that he had to ask for his daughter's permission to borrow her cat for the film's production and she luckily agreed to lend him. However, working with Chip wasn't an easy experience for him.
"I didn't think it through that I became the cat-handler," he shared. "I literally had to drive to work with the cat. I had the cat in my trailer, and on the set. But to his credit, he behaved like a dog."
Does Alfie the Cat Die in Argylle?
Fortunately, Alfie was able to survive the events of Argylle and he was safe by the end of the movie.
While his life is imperiled throughout the film, the scene-stealing cat manages to dodge every single near-death experience that he has and he is even able to defend himself against his opponents.
The audience, especially those who are cat lovers, have nothing to worry about regarding Alfie's fate in the movie and he remains to be a loyal companion to Elly.
Given that he became a scene-stealer in the movie, it wouldn't be surprising if they bring him back in a potential sequel.
Argylle is now showing in theaters everywhere.
