According to the rumor mill, at last night's award ceremony, Gomez asked to take a photo with her pal Chalamet, but was rebuffed by his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. A disappointed Gomez was then filmed chatting animatedly with her friends, Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry, and the clips quickly went viral.
However, an inside source denied the rumor and maintains Gomez "never saw or spoke to the couple".

So how did Selena Gomez and Timothée Chalamet become friends in real life? The two bonded while filming Woody Allen's 2019 film, A Rainy Day in New York, where they played accomplices and co-stars in a young aspiring director's "American noir classic".
According to reports, principal photography for the film started in September 2017. This means that the two became friends around that time.
Gomez and Chalamet's Relationship Explored
After filming A Rainy Day in New York in 2018, Gomez was snapped reuniting with her pal Chalamet as they had a few drinks with friends at a restaurant situated in the Sunset Tower Hotel in Hollywood.
The report revealed that Chalamet first arrived at the restaurant with a male friend. After a couple of hours, Gomez arrived with some girlfriends. Chalamet was said to have chatted with Gomez on the phone before she arrived.
They were photographed sitting next to each other and had a friendly chat. Gomez later left to proceed to meet with her then-boyfriend, Justin Bieber's.
Since they first became friends, Gomez and Chalamet also made a number of social media videos together.
In 2020, the pair thrilled fans of A Rainy Day in New York by doing an Instagram Live together, in which they encouraged followers to go out and vote in the upcoming presidential election.
In the video, Chalamet praised Gomez and said (via US Magazine):
“I know this goes without saying — and don’t think I don’t mean it because I’m younger than you — but I’m really proud of you. I know it’s making a difference. I’m really inspired.”
Golden Globes Gossip Clip Explained
Recently, fans can't help but wonder if Gomez and Chalamet are still friends after word spread of some drama going down at the 2024 Golden Globes.
According to the rumor mill, Gomez allegedly asked Chalamet for a photo but was told no by Chalamet's girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. This might be related to an apparent social media feud last year between Gomez and Jenner about, of all things, eyebrows. However, the two have shot down rumors that it was anything more than friendly banter.
Jenner wrote:
"This is reaching. No shade towards Selena ever and I didn't see her eyebrow posts! You guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly."
Gomez also responded: "Agreed @kyliejenner. It's all unnecessary. I'm a fan of Kylie!"
After the alleged snub at the Golden Globes, Gomez was filmed reaching out to her friends, Taylor Swift and Keleigh Teller. Although the animated conversation between the women was inaudible, fans can't help but think that Gomez told them about what happened.

After the clips went viral, an insider cleared the air, telling People Magazine Gomez was "absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie," and in fact didn't even see or speak to the couple at the ceremony.
