Archer 10 is Embracing the Sci-Fi Genre with Archer: 1999

So far, we've gotten several parodies of Archer from Vice, Dreamland, to Danger Island, and with the tenth season set to come out, we're promised to be going boldy where no one has gone before—in a galaxy far far away.

According to Den of Geek, Archer 10 will still have everyone's favorite secret agent in a coma, and his fantasy is moving from the action-adventure genre to sci-fi; expect influences from films like Star Trek, Star Wars, and Alien.

This time around, Archer will be the captain of the space station Seamus. With every reinvention also comes a crazy twist for several characters. Now Pam is going to be a rock monster (not to different from Fantastic Four's The Thing), and Krieger will be an android a la Bishop from Aliens. Mallory is also ditching her human form to be a ‘sentient ball of raw energy'—I can only imagine how they'll portray alcoholism on a giant energy ball. Also expect a return of robot jackass, Barry.

Sam Richardson is also joining the cast as a green alien, and there's going to be another (robotic) bird in the form of Funby.

I'll be honest, I kind of miss the original office banther that the show was known for, but these genre flips make for some fun parodies. I just kind of wish we had some more progress with the characters outside of Archer's coma. What happened to baby AJ? Is Cyril still running his agency?

No solid release date has been set, but we should expect Archer:1999 to hit FXX sometime next year.
