Aquaman’s Willem Dafoe On The Difference Between Work On The DCEU Movie And Spider-Man

It's been a while since Willem Dafoe's been in a superhero movie. The last time the Academy Award-winning actor last tried his hand at the comic book genre, he played Norman Osborn (the Green Goblin) in Sam Raimi's very first Spider-Man movie which premiered back in 2002. Now, Dafoe is making his way back to the comic book movie scene, this time in the DC Extended Universe's upcoming Aquaman.

Speaking in an interview with Cinema Blend, Dafoe admits that his experience acting in Aquaman has been completely different from the experienced that he had working on Spider-Man, and it turns out the actor's a-okay with it.

"They are different. They're very different - because they have different aims," Dafoe told the news outlet. "They're working with different materials, their working with different intentions. But that's okay!"

According to the actor, he's actually pretty happy with the changes because he wants to keep himself flexible and loose.

"I like to mix it up because that way you don't get stuck," Dafoe said. "You don't start to believe that there's only one way of doing things, and you don't start believe there's only one way of living, and you don't start to believe there's only a certain kind of film that's worth making. It keeps you loose."

Though Dafoe isn't playing the main baddie in Aquaman, he does take on a significant role in the film. Taking on the role of Vulko, Dafoe's character tries to remain in the middle of everything. One on hand, Vulko serves as the adviser of Orm (Patrick Wilson and on the other he serves as Arthur Curry's (Jason Mamoa) mentor in Aquaman.

It's definitely going to be interesting seeing which side Vulko ends up being faithful to in the movie.

Aquaman hits cinemas December 21, 2018.
