2018's Aquaman film starring Jason Momoa signaled a brand new era for the DC Extended Universe and it pretty much proved that with the right creative direction, the franchise can be a top-grosser in the box office game. The film marked the first time that the DCEU earned over 1 billion dollars and it isn't so surprising how Warner Bros. cashed in on its momentum and immediately greenlit a sequel.

Aquaman 2 is heavily rumored to begin production this Summer and while we still know very little about the much-awaited project, actress Amber Heard's latest Instagram post may have just confirmed that the sequel will indeed begin filming soon.

Taking to the photo-sharing social media platform, Heard shared a photo of herself while training for her return as Mera and it's evident that she's putting in all the work. Of course, it's only natural for actors who involved in comic book films to maintain a certain physical condition but one would assume that Amber is actually gearing up to play a more significant role in the film. Check out her post here:

Now, if previous rumors are to be believed, Amber's spot in the DC Extended Universe reportedly still remains in jeopardy amid her legal battle with former husband Johnny Depp. However, the latest reports claim that the controversial actress has convinced the studio with the help of Momoa, director James Wan, and Zack Snyder whom she worked with on Justice League. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things will play out.

No official release date has been set for Aquaman 2.
