The upcoming DCEU sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is finally arriving in theaters this coming holiday season. Fans are looking forward to seeing how the current iteration of the DC franchise will conclude and close out Jason Momoa's tenure as the hero.

The film has also suffered a lot of behind-the-scenes drama based on various reports whether it's the multiple reshoots that it underwent or the claims surrounding Amber Heard's reduced screen time in the midst of her recent controversies.

Now, as we're less than two months away from its scheduled arrival in theaters, Warner Bros. is changing its date once again as they bumped its release for a couple of days.

Deadline has reported that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is changing its release date to December 22, instead of December 20. As a result, it will now arrive in theaters on the Friday before Christmas.

No reason was stated regarding why the release was bumped for two days, but it is possible that Warner Bros. wants to steer it away for a bit from Wonka, which is scheduled to release a week before.

Another Warner Bros. film, The Color Purple, is also set for release on Christmas Day, December 25, but it doesn't have the same target audience as the two aforementioned movies which were both aiming for the family-friendly crowd.

Since the delay is only for two days, it's not as massive as the other release date delay news that we've been reading recently for the other tentpole films. It also shows that Warner Bros. is still eager to release the film this year no matter what.

The ongoing actors' strike, which may or may not conclude soon depending on how the current negotiations go, doesn't have any effect on its release, and the studio is still expected to promote the film with or without its cast members.

Now, all eyes are on how the film will fare well at the box office and what the reception from the critics and the audience will be given that it is the final DCEU film, a sequel to a billion-dollar hit from five years ago, and the recent DCEU releases have also been major misses financially.
