Aquaman 2’s Star Dolph Lundgren Recalls Filming with Amber Heard: "She Was Very Kind"

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were the subjects of recent major news headlines as the two goes against each other in an elaborate defamation trial. One of Heard's most controversial claims is her latest outing in the DCEU sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, proclaiming that her role as Mera in the DC sequel was dragged due to her current situation.

Along with that, many details about the upcoming Aquaman sequel were brought to light and even one sequence from the film was spoiled. According to DC Boss Walter Hamada, Heard wasn't entirely removed from the sequel, instead, her screentime was just significantly reduced.

Now that the jury has arrived at a final decision on the case, an Aquaman co-star comes forward and seemingly shows support for Heard. In a recent article by The Independent, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Dolph Lundgren recalled his filming experience with co-star Amber Heard.

“She was great. I worked with her on the first Aquaman, now the second one. We shot last fall in London," Lundgren said. "She’s terrific, I had a great experience with her. She was very kind, nice to the crew, nice to everybody, just down to earth. She had her newborn baby with her on set with the nanny which was kind of cute.”

It’s undoubtedly pleasant to know that Lundgren apparently still supports Heard amid the final verdict. This little statement of Lundgren might help Heard establish back her character, especially since the general public clearly doesn’t favor her side in the defamation trial.

It's too obvious that Heard doesn't want to let go of her prestigious role as Mera in the blockbuster Aquaman franchise. And her struggle to secure the role still appears to be a long negotiation with Warner Bros. This controversial defamation trial would certainly dictate Depp and Heard's long-term Hollywood careers. However, now that the jury concluded with a final verdict, it's safe to assume that recasting Mera would be the wisest choice for Warner Bros. after Heard lost the case.

Nevertheless, Warner Bros. has not yet released an official statement regarding Heard's future involvement in the Aquaman franchise, and it seems that the actress will still appear in the Aquaman sequel.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will premiere in theaters on March 17, 2023.
