Aquaman 2 Production Start Set for Summer, Working Title Revealed

It's finally happening. The highly anticipated Aquaman sequel is set to begin production in summer. In addition to that, the upcoming Jason Momoa film has a working title that could reveal what would happen in the DC Extended Universe flick.

Discussing Film reveals that Aquaman 2 is now expected to begin production in the UK by June this year. In addition to that, the report confirms that the sequel's working title is Necrus.

First of all, we're loving the idea that the second Aquaman movie is ready to start filming. Although the premiere isn't until next year, it's still important to begin filming as soon as possible to avoid any delays that could be caused by COVID-19. We're hoping that the cast and crew will be able to safely complete the project.

As for the working title, it could be a tease at where Aquaman 2 will take place. In the comic books, Necrus is an underwater city just like Atlantis. However, it is only visible for a brief period and is said to never appear in the same location twice.

Not much is known about Necrus but it is called the Black City and is ruled by the tyrannical Mongo. If Aquaman 2 is somehow connected to this city, it could mean that Arthur Curry will be facing an opponent in an underwater battle.

Aquaman 2 will once again be directed by James Wan and will bring back Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Amber Heard and Dolph Lundgren. The movie is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
