Aquaman 2 Director James Wan Shares Exciting Update on DCEU Sequel

There is little doubt that fans are already looking forward to DC FanDome in hopes of getting some good news about the upcoming DC Extended Universe films. However, it looks like James Wan has just given an update on Aquaman 2 a full week before the event and it's an exciting development for the sequel.

The official DC Twitter account has shared an excerpt from Wan's interview to hype up the film's upcoming panel at DC FanDome. Interestingly, the filmmaker, who is known for his horror movies, confirmed there will be some horror elements in the sequel.

"I would say yes. Just like the first movie had a touch of my horror sensibility in it, in regards to the Trench sequence, I would say there'll be a little bit of that in this next one," Wan teased. "I think it's something that's a big part of who I am, and it just naturally comes out in these kinds of films."

Wan also pointed out that the idea of discovering hidden worlds underwater is already terrifying so it's just natural for him to play with this particular element.

"Especially a movie like Aquaman, you know where the story takes place in these underwater worlds that can be very scary," he added. "So naturally, my love for the horror genre just means that I latch myself to these scenes and try to give them a little bit more of my scary sauce."

Of course, Aquaman 2 will not be a horror film but Wan is already preparing a spin-off that will be perfect for fans of scary movies. Although he hasn't offered any updates on the movie that will focus on the Trench, we may get more details at FanDome.

Wan will join the cast of Aquaman in the film's special panel at DC FanDome on August 22.
