Apple TV Releases First Teaser for Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series

It has been almost a year since we got any updates from Apple TV's live-action adaptation of Isaac Asimov's Foundation book series but it looks like it's well worth the wait. The streaming service has just unveiled our first glimpse at the upcoming show and it looks promising.

The teaser was released during Apple's WWDC 2020 Special Event Keynote and the video actually starts off with a behind-the-scenes look at how the series was made. Executive producer David Goyer points out that "people have been trying to make Foundation for over 50 years" and how the novels greatly influenced Star Wars. He then adds that "it was the greatest science fiction work of all time" and that it's a huge universe with a story that spans thousands of years. With that in mind, Goyer is grateful that Apple has decided to take on the massive project.

The trailer itself only teases at what will happen in the series. We get a glimpse at Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) telling Gaal (Lou Llobell) that he will be arrested and she will be taken along with him. Brother Day (Lee Pace) is also shown admitting that he can see the future but people don't like the future he predicts.

The synopsis for Foundation reads as follows:

"Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire."

Foundation has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on Apple TV by 2021.
