Star Wars fans have been clamoring for more handheld gaming titles for quite some time now. While developer Zynga granted everyone's wish with the creation of the upcoming team-based combat game for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android titled Star Wars: Hunters, gamers will have to wait a little longer to enjoy it.

For the uninitiated, Star Wars: Hunters is a 4v4 team-based action game where users are allowed to play as a member of the Galactic Empire or Rebel Alliance. The game also features various maps from different iconic locations across the galaxy.

Zynga took to Twitter to confirm that the release of the exciting new game has once again been pushed back to 2023. Originally, Hunters was set for a 2021 release. Judging by the developer's statement, it looks like Star Wars: Hunters isn't ready to be played in full despite already having a soft launch on mobile.

A part of Zynga's statement reads: "We understand game delays are frustrating, however, our top priority is ensuring players will have the best possible experience in the Arena."

The good thing is that folks who have access to Hunters' tester will still be able to play the game and Zynga is committed to releasing new content regularly until the full launch. Sadly, the rest of the world will have to wait until next year to experience Star Wars: Hunters.

Of course, gaming delays are incredibly frustrating but there's nothing we can do about it. And hey, I'd rather wait for it than play something that is virtually unfinished.

No official release date has been announced for Star Wars: Hunters.
