Anthony Mackie Possibly Returning as Captain America in Late 2021

There is little doubt that fans are still hyped up about the new Captain America after Sam Wilson took on the mantle in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But is it possible that we'll be seeing New Cap again a lot sooner than we think? Anthony Mackie may have teased that he'll start working on Captain America 4 before the end of the year.

The fourth Captain America movie, which would focus on Sam instead of Steve Rogers, had been announced right after the premiere of the Falcon and The Winter Soldier season finale. The new film, which will reunite Mackie with TFATWS showrunner Malcolm Spellman, does not yet have an official release date. However, Mackie may have teased that production will start very soon.

In an interview on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Mackie spoke about playing the new (and Black) Captain America. In addition to that, he shared that he is already getting into shape to film since the process usually takes four months.

"You take the four months," Mackie said. "Like right now, I am at the end of the first month of the four-month process to get back away from fat Mackie to movie Mackie."

This is interesting news considering that Captain America 4 had only been announced last month. On the other hand, Mackie may have already been told by Marvel Studios to begin preparations for his return.

We're loving the idea that Captain America 4 could start production soon since it could also mean that the movie will be released a lot sooner than expected. There's still a mystery Marvel film that's expected to drop in 2022 so there's a possibility that that could now be the fourth Captain America movie.
