Anthony Mackie is the New Takeshi Kovacs in Main Trailer for Altered Carbon Season 2

Earlier this month, Netflix had dropped the first teaser for the second season of Altered Carbon. We thought we would have to wait a bit longer for the official trailer, but now the streaming service has decided to drop that as well.

Here's the description for Altered Carbon 2:

"Season 2 of the sophisticated and compelling sci-fi drama finds Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry). After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs finds himself recruited back to his home planet of Harlan's World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe (Chris Conner), Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?"

What's interesting is that some people were convinced that the second season would be following the events of the sequel to Altered Carbon, Broken Angels. With the first season taking some liberties though, it seems that series creator Laeta Kalogridis would like to do the same with Season 2.

Though I will miss Joel Kinnaman in the role, I'm sure that Anthony Mackie will do some amazing work as the new sleeve of Takeshi Kovacs. Besides, this is sure to get fans pumped for Mackie's other upcoming series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is set to hit Disney+ later this August.

Catch Altered Carbon when it returns to Netflix Feb. 27.
