Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is expected to be the finale to everything George Lucas built up since the very first Star Wars. While there will always be more comics, tie-in novels, and yes, movies from the franchise, knowing that this will be the last time we'll see these characters will be emotional for some. Anthony Daniels, who has been playing C-3PO since the very first film, admitted that he teared up a bit for this film.
During an interview with Variety, Daniels said that this movie would be a great way to say goodbye to the beloved/hated droid fans grew up with. The most recent teaser showed us C-3PO with red eyes, which could mean that something dark will be afoot for him. This could lead to a really sad moment but we will have to wait and see.
Here's what Daniels had to say:
While never the most important character, C-3PO did often give fans moments of levity when things were at their darkest in Star Wars. As a casual fan, I am grateful to Daniels for the work he's done and it will be an honor to see his final performance as the character. Here's hoping that they stick the landing.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be coming out on December 20.
