Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is making big changes to one of the franchise's beloved characters. In a shocking twist, it turns out that David Dastmalchian, who appeared in the first two Ant-Man films as one of Scott Lang's ex-con buddies Kurt is getting recast in the threequel.

According to a new synopsis released for the film, Dastmalchian will now be playing a new character named "Veb". While the press release didn't say much about The Suicide Squad actor's role, his name is placed next to Jonathan Majors, William Jackson Harper, and Bill Murray which seems to be a dead giveaway that he'll be playing someone from the Quantum Realm.

The press release reads (via ComicBook): "Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope's parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott's daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar."

The decision to give Dastmalchian a new role is super intriguing, especially since fans have already embraced his previous persona. Of course, it's possible that Veb is actually Kurt's variant living in the Quantum Realm unless Marvel Studios is planning to set up something else for the character which is also plausible.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is slated for theatrical release on February 17, 2023.
