Evangeline Lilly has been one of the many MCU actresses who has been vocal about wanting an all-female Avengers movie, or something like it. So it might be surprising to know that the Ant-Man and The Wasp actress isn't interested in her character getting a solo film. This is a bit odd since everyone is pushing for more female representation but Lilly has her reasons.
During Fan Expo Boston (via CBR), Lilly said she isn't interested in The Wasp getting a solo film since she and Ant-Man have almost-always been a team. The original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, was always paired up with Hank Pym, whether he was Ant-Man or Giant-Man so Lilly isn't wrong. That being said, Hank and Janet's comic book relationship is pretty messy and even involves some spousal abuse, so always putting these two together isn't always a good thing.
"I like the MCU and I'd like to stay. But I actually don't like the idea of a Wasp standalone film, because Ant-Man and Wasp, since the very beginning in the comic books, were always a team. And really, they're kind of one of the only proper and true teams in the MCU, otherwise it's mostly a lot of individuals. And I love the team aspect of it, I love watching the interplay between Wasp and Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp. For me it's the most fun part of the film."
It's interesting to know that Lilly doesn't want Hope Van Dyne to have a solo film since her comic counterpart, called Nadia Pym (Nadia is Russian for Hope), is about to get a second solo series. To be fair, both characters have drastically different backgrounds with the comic version being much younger than the movie version.
Plus, the comic book version was also trained by Winter Soldier, which is pretty cool.
Ant-Man and The Wasp will get a Blu-Ray release soon. It's not yet known if Lilly will appear in Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019.
