Ant-Man And The Wasp: Marvel Casts Janet Van Dyne

Despite all the BTS issues involving Ant-Man, the movie was a huge hit, and Marvel Studios is hard at work with the sequel. During the opening of their Hall H panel at the SDCC (via ScreenRant), they announced which actress has won the coveted role of Hank Pym's missing wife, Janet Van Dyne.

It was announced during the panel that Batman Returns actress Michelle Pfeiffer has been cast as the original Wasp. Though we still have no confirmation on how large her role will be, there's a lot of potential that the sequel will involve Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne trying to find out what happened to the Janet after she went sub-atomic.

If anything, Pfeiffer will probably play a de-aged version of herself alongside Michael Douglas in a flashback. I have a feeling that Janet Van Dyne has actually been alive all this time, and with characters like Doctor Strange being part of the MCU, there are now new ways to try and bring her back from the Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the first Marvel standalone to come out after Avengers: Infinity War, so everyone is very curious on what special place it will have in the timeline. Is the Infinity War still raging when this movie happens? Was Scott Lang not a part of it? Will the movie be as small of a scale as the first one?

Nobody knows, but Marvel Studios will probably give us an official idea on the film when the time is right.

Ant-Man and the Wasp comes out July 6, 2018.
