Ant-Man and The Wasp Director Discusses Kang's Introduction in Quantumania

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is currently one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and there's one particular reason why people are already looking forward to it. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel is set to introduce Kang the Conqueror, as played by Loki star Jonathan Majors. So what is it like handling the major task of bringing in MCU's next Big Bad? Director Peyton Reed discussed Kang's debut in the third Ant-Man film and how it is something that he had wanted to see for a long time.

Peyton Reed recently spoke to Nerdbunker where he admitted that he and his team were eager to be the ones to introduce Kang the Conqueror into the MCU and they wanted to see Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne go up against the supervillain.

“We wanted the responsibility. We wanted to put Ant-Man and the Wasp against one of the big great villains in the Marvel Comics universe,” Reed said before adding that he had admired Kang for a long time.

“I loved Kang as a kid, and to get to create him, and figure out who he is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that’s always a fun thing, taking these characters that people have a relationship with in the comics and figuring out sort of what that is in the movie universe. Because they are two very different things,” Reed said.

We're glad that Peyton Reed gets to live out his dream in the next Ant-Man movie. Also, we can't wait to see Jonathan Majors as the terrifying Variant of He Who Remains, who was introduced in the final episode of Loki Season 1. Needless to say, Quantumania is definitely a film to watch out for this year.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors, David Dastmalchian, and Randall Park. The film hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
