Anime Fans Have Mixed Reactions To WB’s Attack On Titan Live-Action Movie Announcement

Word came out earlier today that Warner Brothers had finally managed to nab the rights to a live-action Attack on Titan movie, and reports also revealed IT director Andy Muschietti as the helmsman of the upcoming project.

However, as exciting as a live-action Attack on Titan movie might sound, it seems like fans have mixed reactions regarding the upcoming project. Live-action anime films haven't had the best reputation during the past few years, and Attack on Titan just recently had a live-action attempt from Japan with two films released back to back in the country.

Both films didn't quite hit the mark, resulting in negative reviews from fans inside and outside Japan. With the fanbase reeling from the experience and the poor reception of live-action anime movies like Ghost in the Shell and Death Note, it seems like many are wary of this new Attack on Titan project.

Many seem a bit pessimistic about the film, taking to social media platforms like Twitter to express their anxieties.

However, while many fans cry "leave Attack on Titan alone," others seem to support Andy Muschietti despite the pessimism.

Not only has Muschietti directed the critically acclaimed Stephen King film adaptation IT, but the director has also had experience working on other horror movies like Mama. With his reputation and experience, fans are rooting for Muschietti, hoping that the director will bring justice to the project.

Set in a world where most of humanity has been wiped out by man-eating giants called Titans, the original Attack on Titan anime and manga series follows the exploits of Eren Yeager, a young boy who ends up joining the military with his childhood friends Mikasa and Armin to defend their home.

Attack on Titan has yet to receive a release date, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
