Most of us are well aware that Andrew Garfield left the Marvel franchise on a sour note in 2014 after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 received negative reviews from fans and critics. Thankfully, he was able to get his redemption arc seven years later in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a project which saw all three generations of live-action Spider-Men, including Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland team up in arguably the most ambitious crossover in comic book film to date.

Garfield's return was met with generally positive feedback from the fandom as well as his peers. However, it turns out that one colleague wasn't happy with his performance and it's Daredevil actor Charlie Cox. At the GQ Men of the Year ceremony, the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star hilariously roasted his good friend, jokingly saying that his performance in No Way Home "solidified his legacy as the third greatest Spider-Man of all time".

Well, it turns out that Garfield was actually in attendance as Cox was delivering his speech and he heard every bit of Charlie's snarky remarks. In a video posted by GQ, the 39-year-old can be seen chuckling at his good pal's joke. Check it out here:

It remains unclear whether we've seen the last of Garfield's iteration of the "amazing" web-slinger but judging by the positive feedback he received for his No Way Home involvement, Marvel and Sony would be foolish not to bring him back for at least one more film just so we can all finally get our closure and remove the bitter taste The Amazing Spider-Man 2 left in our mouths.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios and Sony Picture's untitled Spider-Man 4 film is currently in the works.
