Andrew Garfield and Oscar Isaac Set To Star in New Guillermo del Toro Film

Guillermo del Toro may have just recently won an Oscar for best animated feature on his animated stop-motion picture for Netflix, Pinocchio, but the director is not stopping there, as he is developing a new project, which is based on the classic 1818 novel by Mary Shelley titled Frankenstein.

Variety reports that Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield, Moon Knight’s Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth are in early talks to star in Netflix’s live-action Frankenstein movie. The live-action adaptation will be written and helmed by none other than del Toro himself, and given his past achievements as a prominent Oscar-winning filmmaker, Frankenstein is no head-scratcher in marking his brilliant skills.

Seeing as del Toro’s take on Frankenstein is still being kept under wraps, the involvement of MCU stars Garfield and Isaac is already taking a different direction, as the two have yet to be seen working together on screen. This may be the first once the project comes to fruition.

Andrew Garfield is famously known for portraying Sony’s Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, while Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight. While we have yet to see news on Spider-Man meeting Moon Knight, Garfield and Isaac potentially leading del Toro’s adaptation could shed the actors in a different light.

It is worth noting that Frankenstein has already had numerous variations on media, however, given del Toro’s dark take on Pinocchio certifying his abilities when it comes to adapting a fresh look on a classic character, Frankenstein might be a shoe-in to win in his hands, as well.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio wasn’t his first time winning his Academy Award. Back in 2017, his The Shape of Water took home Best Director and Best Picture, while in 2007, his film, Pan’s Labyrinth, received nominations for Screenplay and Foreign Language film. Lastly, del Toro won another Best Picture with Nightmare Alley in 2022.
