It looks like all the backlash against Star Wars: The Last Jedi hasn't been keeping the hype for Star Wars: Episode IX down.
Though some believe that the box performance of Episode IX might be at risk because of the negative response to Rian Johnson's subversive Star Wars entry and because of the underwhelming outcome of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Forbes believes that the film's biggest threat was the number of blockbusters opening before the third sequel trilogy installment.
Sure, the release of Star Wars movies might be a big cinematic event, but the franchise can also be affected by competition. Remember what happened to Solo? Not was the film cursed with a poor marketing campaign, but it also had to compete with Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2.
Luckily, it looks like things are looking up for Episode IX. Now that Wonder Woman 1984's release date has been moved to 2020 and James Bond 25 (Death on the Nile) has been delayed, the film's two biggest competitors have been taken off the table.
But that's not all. The publication also claims that Paramount is thinking of moving Tim Miller's Terminator reboot from its original November 15, 2019 release date to November 1, 2019.
That leaves Star Wars Episode IX a lot of room to build up its hype and dominate the box office game in cinemas all around the globe. Hopefully, the film turns out to be as good as everyone hopes it is.
Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
