Amy Pascal Praises Zombieland Director And Teases The Tone Of The Venom Movie

Besides the fact that Tom Hardy is in it, the only other things we know about Sony's Venom movie is that it's R-Rated and set outside the MCU. Amy Pascal, however, gives us an idea about what to expect from the movie tonally, and she praises Zombieland director Reuben Fleischer.

Talking to Fandom, Pascal says:

"Well, Ruben is a very talented, ironic, funny guy. He did a great job with Zombieland, so when you think of that mixed with Venom, I think that tells you what it should be."

If you saw Zombieland, you'll know that the movie was a pretty solid comedy despite being chockfull of zombies and death. With that in mind, I'm expecting to see some dark comedy when it comes to Venom. Hopefully Hardy can pull it off, because I just noticed that I don't really see him perform in comedies that much.

On a side note, even if Venom is set outside of the MCU, Pascal has teased the possibility of him running into Peter Parker:

"Venom is a character that is closely associated with Spidey and there may be some day where you see them together, you never know".

In retort, I would like to say Sony should never have started a Venom movie without ever planning to have him crossover with Spider-Man. He's Spider-Man's nemesis, and you can't expect to run an entire franchise without the main hero ever appearing. Get it together, Sony.

Venom is set to come out Oct. 5, but we can catch Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters July 7.
