2020 was a bitter year for Aquaman star Amber Heard but despite her highly publicized personal issues with former spouse Johnny Depp, Heard has always come across as someone who isn't fazed by controversy. Now that we've welcomed 2021, it's looking pretty evident that Heard will continue to have a steady career, much to the chagrin of her detractors.

We reported last month that Amber could be set for an upgraded role in the DC Extended Universe, with Mera being heavily featured in Zack Snyder's upcoming cut of Justice League. Now, a new report claims that the new Queen of Atlantis is set to become a member of the iconic DC superhero group.

Tipster Daniel Richtman reported on his Patreon that Heard's time in the DCEU aren't numbered just yet and Mera will play a significant role in the Justice League post-Snyder Cut. Of course, it still remains a rumor for now so take everything with a grain of salt.

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense seeing as Wonder Woman is the only female hero currently in the franchise, adding Mera to the mix could pay huge dividends especially since Hawkgirl has yet to be established. I'm not quite sure though if DC fans are ready to accept it considering they want Amber to lose all of her projects.

Zack Snyder's Justice League cut will hit HBO Max this March.
