I think we can all agree that 2022 was a pretty disruptive year for Amber Heard's personal and professional life. After losing the multi-million defamation lawsuit her ex-husband Johnny Depp filed against her, everything seemed to have gone a downward spiral for the actress.

But just when her critics thought her loss to Depp would mark the end of her career, it was recently confirmed that Heard will still be part of the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, despite calls from the fandom to have her removed from the sequel.

Heard's return as Mera was made official at this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas. During the Warner Bros. Discovery panel, the official trailer for Aquaman 2 was unveiled, offering a glimpse at Mera who is now donning a white suit.

The update, posted across Twitter garnered thousands of reactions and millions of collective views which is quite astonishing considering the whole #FireAmberHeard movement is still in full swing.

On the social media platform, the actress' supporters were generally pleased with the positive reception Amber's DC Universe return has been receiving as of late. Check out some of the reactions below:

Although a verdict has been served, many are still convinced that Amber is the victim of the entire ordeal. As for her future in the DC Universe, we still don't know if she's part of James Gunn and Peter Safran's chopping block.

However, it's also worth mentioning that early screen tests for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom claim that Mera is the absolute star of the sequel. That alone obviously increases Amber's chances of sticking around as the DCU undergoes a massive revamp.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is slated for theatrical release on December 20, 2023.
