Amazon's Wheel Of Time Casts Daniel Henney As Al’Lan Mandragoran

Amazon's upcoming The Wheel of Time series has finally found its uncrowned king. Criminal Minds star Daniel Henney has just been cast as Al'Lan Mandragoran.

The announcement was made by the official Wheel of Time Twitter account. Check it out below.

Al'Lan Mandragoran is known commonly as Lan and is one character who has almost as many titles as Daenerys Targaryen. Lan is the Lord of the Seven Towers, Lord of the Lakes, True Blade of Malkier, Defender of the Wall of First Fires, Bearer of the Sword of the Thousand Lakes, May He Sever the Shadow, and Dai Shan. To the Aiel, he is Aan'allein and is called the uncrowned king. Lan is also the only survivor of the royal line of the fallen kingdom of Malkier.

In the Robert Jordan books, Lan is Moiraine Damodred's Warder since he is bonded to her. However, the bond is later transferred to Nynaeve al'Meara.

Henney has played Agent Zero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and provided the voice of Tadashi Hamada in Big Hero Six. He is best known for playing Matthew Simmons in the CBS series Criminal Minds.

Henney will join the cast of The Wheel of Time which already includes Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, Josha Stradowski as Rand al'Thor, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve, Barney Harris as Matrim Cauthon, and Madeleine Madden as Egwene al'Vere. Rafe Judkins will serve as showrunner.

The Wheel of Time has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, it is expected to begin production soon and could premiere on Amazon Prime before the end of 2021.
