Amazing Star Wars Fan Film Featuring Kanan Jarrus Aims To Raise Awareness For A Children's Hospital

The Star Wars community never ceases to amaze in how they share their love for the franchise. This time, a group of passionate and generous fans from Kentucky created a 50-minute fan film for a fellow fan who sadly succumbed to brain cancer.

Titled Star Wars: Hand of the Empire, the film was made as a tribute to a brave young boy with brain cancer named Phillip, who wished to be a Stormtrooper.

"Our team was able to get him an official stormtrooper costume. Sadly he passed away a short time afterwards. His brother, Ben, was able to appear in this film in Phillip's costume," the team stated.

"Wanting to do more for the hospital who cared for Phillip, Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY, our team decided to embark on creating this fan film in his memory and as a way to bring attention to the good work of Norton Children's Hospital and Children's cancer," they continued.

Star Wars: Hand of the Empire is set six years after the events of the Battle of Yavin. The focus is on a Stormtrooper unit sent on a mission to locate the Emperor's missing experiment in a forest planet called Cilpar. Characters like Kanan Jarrus and Darth Sidious are featured in the fan film.

The Star Wars film first premiered at the Xscape Theatres in January to a sold-out crowd. Now, the film has been uploaded on YouTube so more people can enjoy it, and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive so far. Check it out below.

The proceeds from the fundraising efforts will be used to help Norton Children's Hospital recruit research leaders and acquire state-of-the-art equipment as well as expand regional patient care programs and build and enhance facilities and specialty areas for better service to patients.
