With Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introducing us to so many Spider-Men, a new trend on Twitter called ‘Spidersona' has popped up, with multiple artists pitching their different versions of the wallcrawler. What's cool is, artist @njay1981 on Twitter shares this cool what-if-concept of Ben Parker a.k.a. Uncle Ben gaining the spider powers instead.
Check out these sketches:
With Uncle Ben usually just dying in the Spider-Man mythos, it's really cool to have him front and center for once. This alternate reality has May providing all the gadgets, and she herself has assumed the Dr. Octopus persona (much like the female Doc Ock in Spider-Verse). We also have a look at a young Peter Parker and MJ, who is somehow related to the Punisher.
I really think the concept for Spider-Ben is really cool, and it feels like a cross between Captain America and Spider-Man. I don't know if Marvel has caught wind of this concept, but I'd gladly read a one-off comic showing off an alternate reality of Spider-Ben.
Just in, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Picture, and a lot of people are sure that it won't be the last award it's going to receive. Sony has already greenlit more projects down the line, and we're sure not to have seen the last of this animated Spider-franchise.
Catch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters now.
