Alex Kurtzman Teases Star Trek Film and TV Unification

There is little doubt that the Star Trek TV shows are a huge thing these days, thanks to the success of Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. However, it looks like Alex Kurtzman wants so much more for the franchise. The head of Star Trek Television has expressed interest in unifying the continuity between the shows and films.

Kurtzman recently spoke to SFX Magazine where he admitted that he isn't aware of the plans for the movies (via Games Radar).

"I have no involvement in it right now," Kurtzman said. "I don't know where that's going. Frankly, I have my hands very full."

Interestingly, Kurtzman continued by stating that he is hoping to see some continuity between the movies and the shows he works on.

"Having done two of those films, I loved them so much, and I really would love to see continuity and unification between the features and the TV side, because I think it's what's good for Star Trek, and that can be done any number of ways," he said.

This isn't exactly a huge jump for the franchise. After all, the stars of both The Original Series and The Next Generation have appeared in their own films. Hopefully, this idea would be considered so Kurtzman's new characters can make the jump into the big screen.
