Alden Ehrenreich on Lord and Miller’s Original Version of Solo: A Star Wars Story

Even before the film came out, Solo: A Star Wars Story had been hit with controversy when Lucasfilm had opted to fire original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller late into production. While Ron Howard's movie is fine on its own, a lot of people are curious about what Lord and Miller's movie would have looked like, and star Alden Ehrenreich takes time to comment on that version of the film.

Talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ehrenreich was asked about a possible Lord and Miller cut of Solo: A Star Wars Story and whether he would like to watch it, to which he replies:

"I really don't know. So much of this I was in the dark on as far as what was going on behind-the-scenes. I think there's a million reasons why that probably won't ever happen. If they wanted to and everybody was really cool with it, I would be happy to watch it."

We don't really know what would have been in Lord and Miller's original version of the movie, but it was said that they were going for a more comedic tone compared to past Star Wars movies. We know that the part of Dryden Vos was originally supposed to be played by Michael K. Williams, but he wasn't available to reprise the role when reshoots happened, so he was replaced with Paul Bettany.

There's probably some cut scenes with Lando as well because I remember a set video that leaked with Han, Qi'Ra, and Beckett arriving in Dryden's office with a character dressed in all-white wearing a cape—who I'm almost sure was supposed to be Lando.

Though we'll never get to see what Lord and Miller's version of Solo is, I'm hoping we still get a sequel, be it a movie or a Disney+ series.

For now, you can catch Ehrenreich in Brave New World now streaming on Peacock.
